Position Announcement: Director of Faculty Recognition (Internal Search)

The Office of Faculty Affairs invites applications for the position of Director of Faculty Recognition; a newly established role designed to elevate the visibility of faculty accomplishments and strengthen institutional support for prestigious awards and honors.

This is a 25% administrative appointment, open to associate and full professors at Mississippi State University, with preference given to those who have achieved the rank of professor and have demonstrated a strong record of scholarly distinction and institutional engagement.

Position Overview

Reporting to the Associate Vice President for Faculty Affairs, the Director will lead a university-wide initiative to promote faculty excellence through strategic recognition efforts. Responsibilities include:

  • Identifying and promoting national and international award opportunities for faculty of all disciplines.
  • Supporting nomination processes for major awards, fellowships, and honors.
  • Developing and maintaining a centralized database of faculty accolades.
  • Coordinating recognition events and communications in partnership with University Relations.
  • Advising the Provost’s Office on strategic initiatives related to faculty distinction.

Appointment Details

  • Term: Annual pilot appointment, renewable based on program evaluation.
  • Effort: 25% administrative appointment from the 9-month faculty contract.
  • Compensation: $5,000 annual administrative stipend.
  • Starting: January 16, 2026

Eligibility

  • Associate or full professors at Mississippi State University.
  • Preference for faculty who have achieved the rank of professor with demonstrated success in securing and/or supporting faculty recognition at the institutional or disciplinary level.
