Christopher Hunter

College of Architecture, Art and Design
Assistant Professor, School of Architecture
Ph.D. - Texas A & M

Brings significant experience in the profession with over 30 years of architectural practice in large-scale commercial, recreational, and institutional projects. After re-joining the academy 5 years ago, his focused dissertation research examines American architecture, from 1800 to 1920 with a concentration on African American sacred architecture (in the south) and its representation of material culture. This is a critical research area when evaluating overall cultural (Civil Rights movement) and historical presence of vernacular design and its relationship to both an urban and rural context. He will play a key role teaching our History/Theory courses and design studio courses.
